News X2

The Good News: I have sold my 4800 word Space Opera Pirate story, "Tenari," to Ray Gun Revival for their second anniversary issue.

The Bad News: I sprained my left wrist in a fall about 10 minutes ago. It hurts like hell and I'm typing this one-handed with my right (and off) hand. It isn't swollen, but it hurts if I move it much. I'm going to go wrap it in an Ace Bandage and see what happens.

Ice it. Ice, ice, ice. Take an anti-inflammatory too.

Congrats! And put some ice on that wrist!

Congratulations/sorry to hear that!

I'm sorry you hurt your hand, but YAY!!! Maybe it means you should take one day off to relax in celebration... yeah, that's it. ;) Now I just have to remember to order a copy...

::hops up and down for the good news:: Congratulations.

Ugh about your wrist.

[identity profile] kelly-swails.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats!

I'm sorry.

Yay!

BOOOOOOO!

Even if it's not swollen, you might want to try Advil and ice; my understanding is that sprains are a lot of internal inflammation and icing even the ones that are not obviously swelling can help you recover faster if you get it within a few hours of the injury. Yikes!

[identity profile] karenthology.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I love space pirates. I can't help it. I look forward to reading it!

And ouch on the wrist; I can't add anything but my commiserations and another recommendation for Advil. I hope it feels better soon.

I'm happy and sad for you!

(You've seen "Real Genius," right?)

[identity profile] greykev.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
yay, boo, and I'll run you to the hospital/clinic for x-rays if you need.

Congratulations -
Sorry about the sprain.

Hurray for good news!

[identity profile] dsgood.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations!

The second time I broke my fall with my left hand (and did bad things to my wrist), I found out I could type fairly fast with my right hand only -- and I'm also lefthanded.

Classic good news/bad news! Congratulations and heal quickly!

[identity profile] a-r-williams.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
CONGRATS!!!

But, uh, watch those over-exuberant celebrations. You need both hands to type. I hope your hand feels better soon.

Horray for the sale! And I hope your wrist is better soon! *worries*

[identity profile] kythiaranos.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats on the sale! I hope the wrist recovers quickly.

[identity profile] purdypiedad.livejournal.com 2008-06-26 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats, Dude!

For the wrist, head to the local health food store (or Whole Foods) and purchase arnica tablets (Scientific name: Arnica montana) and arnica ointment. Use both. The sooner you start using arnic, the more effective it is. It causes ultra rapid healing. I know this by both experience and research.

It's good for bruising, spraining, tearing, breaking, and sore muscles, so it's good to keep on hand.

That's what you get for doing the happy jig when the news came through. A gentleman should be more dignified. ;) Ahem, on a more serious note, CONGRATULATIONS!
