It seemed like a good idea to go ahead and publish this to hand-sell at Conventions and readings. I did talk to several small-press publishers about the collection, but the sad economic fact is, collections don't sell very well, even collections by well-know writers. They would have lost money publishing a collection by an unknown like me

And I do not feel like I have to suffer much of the stigma that comes with self-publishing, since these stories were all purchased by magazine editors. As far as I'm concerned, these pieces went through an outside vetting, so it's okay to use self-publishing in this instance.
