Ka-Boom!!!

So of course, since I promised to be diligent in my writing this week, I managed to fail to write a single word yesterday.

Le sigh

I sat down at 12:30 to start, after working in the basement all morning, but the thunderstorm was starting to roll in. I finished my emails, responded to a few things, and decided, since I would only have to shut down the computer anyway, I wouldn't bother starting. Yes, I have a surge protector on my PC. I don't care. We just laid out a bunch of money for this thing last autumn, and I'm not trusting some whimp ass little commercial surge protector to keep my machine safe in the middle of an electrical storm. And of course, the laptop battery will only hold a charge for about 5 minutes, so I couldn't work off it either.

If one of the short stories I have out circulating sells, I'm so buying a laptop battery and an industrial surge protector.

I'm going to do minimal non-writing things today. I plan to finish this journal entry, spend one hour in the basement, do one load of laundry, wash one sink full of dishes, change the cat box, and then write, write, write.

I did get halfway through my audio book yesterday, so it wasn't a total waste by any stretch. I suppose, once the storm ended, I could have written a little before [livejournal.com profile] careswen, got home, but by then, I was too engrossed in my audio book.

Being Thursday, it was theme dinner night. I cooked a traditional Irish dinner. Since I shamefully had no Guinness, I drank some Jameson, which is always a good thing. I could have written on the laptop while careswen worked at the main PC, but instead went back to my book. I guess I felt the need to put something in, rather than let something out.

Well, I'm off to wash clothes and work in the basement!
