Big Hugs

I would like to take this opportunity to thanks everyone who responded to my question about prioritizing. I received some great feedback. I may not have the largest friends list on Live Journal, but I darn well have quality friends on my list, even the ones I've yet to meet in person.

So, with that said, I think I'll answer some of your comments real quick.

[livejournal.com profile] mrissa, I liked your idea about checking in with the spouse, and giving them a rundown on what was accomplished. [livejournal.com profile] careswen and I do a weekly "What's going on this week" discussion every Sunday. Maybe we could incorporate talking about what we've accomplished on our respective projects at this time. I also wanted to say that, after reading your paragraph about starting your novel, being newly married, attending grad school, and commuting a long distance every day, I've decided you are one courageous woman. Or perhaps a little mad. :)

[livejournal.com profile] nomaddervish, I think I need to work on being a little more like you, LOL. I loved that last line in your comment.

Mreauow , the problem is I can set a deadline to finish a draft all I want, but if I'm the one setting the deadline, I'm the only one I have to answer to.

Me: You're late getting that draft of "My Story" finished.
Me Again: Gee me, I'm sorry, I promise I'll get right on that. First Me: Well, okay, just don't let it happen again.
Me The Second: Oh, I promise. And this time, I really mean it.

Maybe I need a face-to-face group to push me a little. Fortunately, like you, I am usually more interested in the voices in my head than the ones of the TV.

[livejournal.com profile] pezwitch, I wish I could trust that things will balance out in the end, but the universe never seems to take that much pity on me. Le Sigh.

Wow, [livejournal.com profile] williamofoccam, that is one might long reply! I probably should work harder at using things like lists to set my priorities. It is the type of thing [livejournal.com profile] careswen would do with sterling results. It would probably work, as long as I didn't start to feel like I'm a slave to the list. Once that happens I start to get snarly and surly, which are unattractive traits. I think the basis of your reply, picking what's important to you, is the real heart of the matter. I need to give myself permission to do what's important to me, even if that means sometimes not doing Stuff That Should Be Done. I also need to take a cold hard look at my personal habits, and see if I can squeeze more writing time out somehow.

Once again, Thank You everyone. I needed some input badly and you guys came through. I promise to do the same for you all in the future.

Peace Out
Michael
