My Tech Evaluation at State Services for the Blind was today. It seemed to go fairly well, with the general consensus being that I need to use a combination of Magic (a screen magnifier with verbosity) and JAWS (a screen reader), as well as Kersweil scanner software. Since all of those programs run between $700 and $1000 dollars each, I'll wait and see what they might foot the bill for.

I didn't go to classes at Vision Loss Resources today, but I still managed to do some school type stuff. I read from the Braille version of Reader's Digest, and I made the long bus ride home, making two transfers along the way. So Braille and Mobility still got done today. I picked up a 20/20 pen and a new set of shades at the Low Vision Store while I was in that part of town.

I haven't done any real fiction writing since returning home from the convention. I have done some revision on three different stories, and I started the plotting and outlining process to convert "Move Along Home" from whatever it currently is into a novel. I plan to start actually writing the novel next week.

Speaking of which (next week that is), my school schedule will be changing again. I plan to drop to part-time, and only go in three days a week. I have finished three classes (Techniques in Daily Living, Cooking, and Cyberlab), so all I have left is Braille, Mobility, Woodshop, and the Living with Blindness group. This makes me happy because it means I'm closing in on finishing the program (probably in September), and I will have more time to focus on the writing. Yippee for me!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July,

In Deep Peace
Michael
