Minicon rocked.

Being on a panel with Harlan Ellison was not terrible at all. Mr. Ellison was everything advertised and more, but also has some strangely endearing qualities about him. It was nice when he came by, patted me on the back and called me by my name later on during the con. It was a little thing, but it was nice enough.

Adam Stemple played a show and, despite being ill-prepared, was his usual high-energy self. We dropped in on David Perry later and it was a blast.

We had a wonderful group reading for the Twin Cities Speculative Fiction Writers Network (goodness but we need a shorter name!). [livejournal.com profile] hilarymoonmurph brought cookies (and read from her fantasy pirate novel). We also had Terry Faust, Ricky Foos, and Jason Wittman (who read a great Beatrix Potter's writing style meets Bram Stoker's story!). [livejournal.com profile] wordswoman read from her story in the new Tiptree anthology. I read a story I'm flogging around. I made Laurel Winter cry and others tear up. I am taking this to mean the story works.

The SF&F in the Twin Cities panel was good. Everyone seemed to appreciate the handout I made about SF&F set in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Greater Minnesota. I had a member of the audience come up and offer to email his list so we could merge the two.

There was a moment of near comedy gold when Howard Harrison and I crossed white canes. En garde and touché were exchanged, and then there was a Wonder Twin Powers Activate! moment. We heard Howard sing the Reincarnation song (aka the birdie song) twice during the Con.

We had a good visit with [livejournal.com profile] mrissa, [livejournal.com profile] ckd and [livejournal.com profile] pameladean and others at the Live Journal party.

Chatted with Laurel Winter, Anne Waltz, and [livejournal.com profile] pegkerr for a few minutes Saturday night, then went to the music circle and sat in with my drum. It was nice to play with other musicians. There were a couple of wonderful moments in the circle.

Went to the [livejournal.com profile] mrissa's reading. She read a wonderful story involving fantasy and hockey, which is about as good as it gets.

Afterward we were forced to get out of the room, then another panel and closing ceremonies. After the Con we took out tired bodies down to Perkins for hot food (which is an after-Con tradition for us). Finally, we came home to our very vocal kitty cat.

We saw and spoke with too many people to mention, so if I did not list you by name or Live Journal, I promise it was fun seeing you!

Now it's time to fall on my nose before I return to reality tomorrow. If I think of anything else I promise to post it later.

In Peace
Michael
