Murder. Tonight. In The Trailer Park.
May. 22nd, 2006 11:09 amActually a reading tomorrow night at DreamHaven.
What: I will be giving a reading as part of the Speculations Reading Series. Sponsored by SASE -- The Write Place and SF Minnesota.
When: Tuesday, May 23rd, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Where: Dreamhaven Books, 912 West Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN
There will be homemade brownies (or bars) to snack on, plus I will be giving away a couple of prizes. Afterward there will be beer, root beer, pizza, and conversation at Dulano's, which is just down the street.
The current list of Things To Read is:
"Rija's Tale," a 5000 word short story which appeared in Gryphonwood Fantasy and is actually the beginning of a novel I plan to write someday.
"Fetch," a 3000 word unsold ghost dog story.
"In the Void," a poem scheduled to appear in The Shantytown Anomaly.
The first section of the untitled Dark Rapunzel story.
I don't know if that will be enough to fill out the whole hour. I'm going to practice a bit today and see. I have other short pieces that could work if I need more material.
I've stopped worrying about whether or not anyone will be there. If everyone who has said they are coming shows up, it looks like there will be 20 to 30 people in attendance.
I have reached a state a Zen about the whole matter. I will not panic or hyperventilate. I will read my stories to the best of my ability. I hope people will enjoy themselves.
I plan on spending today and tomorrow practicing my reading and engaging in simple, soothing activities, such as housework, playing bass, and writing. I hope to see some of you tomorrow night. There will be a full report Wednesday morning.
In Peace,
Michael
