Dear Whoever Is In Charge Of These Things,

I was perfectly happy tooling along writing a few hundred words a night on my "Little Red Riding Hood in Space with Zombies" story, which is a fun story to write, despite some of the heavier themes. I was also perfectly happy to occasionally poke at the "Hapless Guy Who Downloads a Ghost" story from time to time.

So why, I asked you, have you suddenly seen fit to hand me what is obviously the kind of difficult, gut-wrenching, unpleasant-to-write type of story I'm not looking for at this time?

I know I'm at my best when I'm writing about broken people trying to get on with their lives, but I can see how this story must end, and just thinking about it has my stomach in knots and me on the verge of tears. I'm not at all amused that you have seen fit to drop this in my lap and demand I write it right now!

I'm not sure I'm up to that kind of emotional turmoil. I thought when I finished "Fetch" we were done with that kind of thing, at least for the foreseeable future.

I just thought I'd let you know what I'm thinking. I hope we can push this story onto the back burner for a little while, though I'm getting an uneasy feeling that this is not going to be possible.

In Peace,
Michael
