And I'm Off!
Jul. 5th, 2007 10:13 amWhile I won't be at Readercon this weekend. I won't be attending Bittercon either.
I'll be at CONvergence in Bloomington, MN. I typically do not get internet service at this convention, so I likely won't be checking email and LJ and all that good stuff until sometime on Sunday night or Monday day.
And now, I really need to go start preparing for my panels and deciding what I'm going to be reading and making my packing list and all the other pre-con things I need to do.
Writing Life: The Book as Vampire. Or - Does the Muse Always Bite?
You'll often hear writers talking about bleeding for their work. Does it always have to be that way? Can you be happy and have fun writing or do you have to suffer for your art?
Roy C. Booth, Brian Keene, Michael Merriam, Hilary Moon Murphy
Sat 11:00am - 12:00pm A6 Lit
Writing Craft: Creature and Character.
Writing the human and the inhuman in a believable way is tough. Should the story be in the point of view of the Vampire? Or the Vampire's significant other? What makes people love or hate a character or a creature?
Andre Guirard, Brian Keene, Michael Merriam, Hilary Moon Murphy, Doug Texter
Sat 12:30pm - 1:30pm A8 Lit
Twin Cities Speculative Fiction Writers Network Meeting and Group Reading
Sat 3:30pm - 6:00pm LL Lit
Writing Craft: The Plot that Ate My Book.
Plot and Structure are key elements of writing. How do you make them work for you instead of against you?
Roy C. Booth, Terry Faust, Michael Merriam, Kathy Sullivan, Doug Texter
Sun 11:00am - 12:00pm A8 Lit
Writing about Creatures
What does it take to get a believable monster in your story?
Evelyn Baldwin, Dylan Birtolo, Roy C. Booth, Brian Keene, Michael Merriam
Sun 12:30pm - 1:30pm A8 Lit
Science Fiction/Fantasy Romances
A genre crossover that leaves some readers squirming - but one that is very popular!
Tae Kidd, Lois McMaster Bujold, Michael Merriam, Laramie Sasseville, Jody Wurl
Sun 2:00pm - 3:00pm A6 Lit
Michael Merriam Reading
Sun 2:00pm - 3:00pm LL Lit
Yes, I realize I am scheduled to be in two places at once on Sunday. My reading is the last one of the convention. If no one shows up except family and immediate friends, I might abandon the reading and run down to the panel.
