And because there is more than one side to every story: Here is some perspective on some of the violence and real rioting that went down.

I have another LJ friend who made it clear that right now her big concern is for her family and people who have to work in the path of the rioting and rubber bullets responses. Yeah, I'd be afraid too if I or my loved one had to go to work in a zone where people are being stupid by breaking windows and trashing buildings.

You have a right to protest, and while I believe those rights have been gravely impinged on by the local authorities, those same local authorities have a duty and obligation to haul your ass to jail to if you are destroying private property and endangering the lives of people going about their day-to-day business.

The contractor came and hung new drywall today. Tomorrow he will come back and finish the sanding and whatever else needs repaired, then I need to paint, reseat the commode upstairs, and replace the wallpaper border in the kitchen. Almost there.

I started the novella last night and have continued on into today. I realized that the first scene I wrote will stand fine as a first scene, but the one I'm working on right now will likely be the third or fourth scene, maybe even later, since it involves a rather large reveal.

Right now I have a group of near strangers traveling across the plains on a train, which is about to stop because a bridge was damaged by a tornado.

Which will bring us to the collision of a ghost town that should not be, an out-of-control monster summoned for revenge, a pair of pistoleers, an English nobleman, a werewolf, an Aether Oscillator, a German inventor, a Harvard professor, a Shoshone witch, an aging U.S. Marshal, a half-fey British Secret Service Agent, a Dyno-Electro Arc-Projector, an out-of-work buffalo hunter with one of the biggest rifle made at the time, and the fastest train in the west, powered by a fire elemental.

I think I might be on the verge of it being a Weird West Steampunk Horror story.

I have no idea where this is going, but it sounds like a fun ride. I hope I can cram it all into 20,000 words

I'm starting to feel it. There is a definite tone beginning to emerge.
