mmerriam: (Milk Maid)
Right now I'm "between" projects. I could start rewrites on Dark Water Blues, but I'm not quite ready to jump back into it yet. I worked on "Steadfast" this week, and now it needs to go out to readers. "Fourth Dimensional Pony in the Concourse of the Lost" hasn't jelled enough for me to start. All the other short fiction projects are in a less substantial state in my head.

But as [livejournal.com profile] careswen can tell you, if I go too long without working on something I start to get antsy and tense.

I'm starting to get antsy and tense.

This morning I pulled out my high fantasy sword and sorcery novel, Rija's Tale, which is my default thing to work on when I'm between projects. It's been stalled as well, though, and I couldn't figure out why, since I can usually open it up and jump right back in where I left off. Today, I figured out the problem: It's a duology, not a stand alone. Which on one level sucks, but on another level opens up a whole range of possibilities.

Onward.
