The Monster-Hunting Barista Story...
Apr. 18th, 2010 06:33 pm...is now the Monster-Hunting Barista novel. I suspect I'm the last one to realize this was the case, as the story has been merrily careening along as if it was going to be a novel almost from the beginning.
I've written 40K on it, and I know I have 5K-7K before it is finished in this form. I've already spotted places where I can add stuff; working in more description, more world-building, more backstory. I know at least three more scenes I could write that I didn't because, you know, thought it was going to be a nice little novelette. I can spend more time with a couple of really important secondary characters and can pump-up and add scenes for my antagonist. I can do even more character development, especially for Sharisha, my monster-hunting barista.
Yup.
Novel.
Also, figured out how to fix Dark Water Blues. And I still need to finish rewrites on the Rija Novel. And I've started outlining the Spear of Destiny novel. And I have 20 short stories waiting to be written, including one for a Steampunk anthology that opens soon. And I wanted to finish reading my screenwriting book and take some screen/script writing classes. And I'd like to write a couple of on spec scripts. And it looks like I'll be sending Last Car to Annwn Station around to small-press publishers later this year. And I still need to figure out what to do about Old Blood's Fate. And I've got a dozen short stories out on submission.
I think I have enough to keep me busy for the rest of the year.
