You know, it's okay though, I completely understood what you meant. If you haven't read a lot of the person's work, there is that moment of "Oh God, can my friend really write? And will it be something I can enjoy?" It's a perfectly reasonable concern, the more so when that friend is early in their writing career (I love being "early in my career" at 43-years old!) and still trying to find their voice and style.
