Alas, It Was Not To Be

At least not today.

Zilch writing today, but that's okay.

I wanted to spend the day as a full-on writing day, but ended up running errands, handling emails, doing housework, job hunting, doing a phone interview, and other things.

Most importantly, I started working on what we are doing for [livejournal.com profile] careswen's upcoming birthday (the 25th of May, though we will probably do something on the 24th). She's in the middle of her toughest time of the year at work and she just started graduate school, so I really want her to have a good birthday this year. I'll happily give up a day's (hell, a month's) worth of writing to make sure that happens. We've got a couple of possibilities in the works

I think tomorrow I will take my notebook and pen with me to Dunn Brothers--leaving the laptop at home so I can avoid the internet, email, and other distractions--and bare down a bit on the writing.

We have a full and busy weekend coming up, so don't expect me to be online much until Monday.

Not sure I'd ever thought of it that way, but writing longhand would be a great way to avoid the pause to check email, LJ, etc problem one has on a computer. Good luck with the writing. Hopefully I'll be doing some myself tomorrow after a few errands.

I've discovered I can get a lot of writing done this way, and I don't mind transcribing it after I've finished writing long hand.

I almost have to revise on paper long hand. I can't visualize how to move the pieces of a story around unless I can see them on a page. And really the transcribing doesn't take much extra time.

I've written a few stories long hand, but in a rough draft I type much faster than I write long hand.

Happy writing today. I hope she has a grand birthday when it comes.
