I interview for a part-time position that would actually pay me more per year than I ever made when working full-time. Would that rock or what? While I would lose my SSDI payment in nine months, I would get to keep Medicare, which would mean I wouldn't be without medical insurance.

In other news, I'm going through one of those low-points every writer suffers from time to time. I hope it passes soon.

I hope so, too, Michael. Valley of the shadow. Though, often there's useful stuff in the muck underfoot, so remember to wiggle your toes while your slogging through it and see what you can drag home to dissect.

Yay for part-time jobs with great pay and benefits! Go get that sucka!

Right now I'm just kind of slogging along, hoping to muddle through.

The part-time job would be great. We could use the increase in income, and it would still be part-time!

seanmmurphy: Wow, the "useful stuff" sentence up there is really quite cool. I'm going to write that down.

Michael: *hugs*

Fingers crossed!

I am sorry you are in the Slough of Despond. I'm there, too. Perhaps we'll run into each other!

The problem with having so many brilliant and talented writers as friends is that, even though I know better I still find myself despairing of ever being half as good as most of them.

Never, never, never compare, said Haddayr uselessly.

"Never compare" falls into the category of "don't worry," and "feel better!"

so I apologize.

No need to apologize!

It's me doing that stupid thing that every writer does from time to time, where they have a goal or desire or something, and despite how hard they are working and striving and trying to grow as a writer, not getting there. Meanwhile all their friends are getting to that point, so you start to wonder what the hell is wrong with you and...

and on and on in that vein.

I feel like we're in The Pilgrim's Progress. Or The Neverending Story, take your pick.

Oh, yeah. Been there. Actually, now that you mention it ... I'm still there.

We'll pull through.

What I try to tell myself is that while person A rocks at dialogue and person B is spectacular at plot and person C has beautiful prose, none of them write exactly like I do. None of them would write a story the same way I would, and the world is better for it.

Hope that helps.

Best of luck for tomorrow.

I just went through one of those low points. It'll pass.

Good luck with both the interview and the writing funk! You will conquer both.
