It just got very still and dark outside. The humidity rose sharply and the pressure changed (I can feel it in my ankle). The sky is an unpleasant shade of green.

This is going to end poorly, I'm thinking.

ETA: The first cell blew through at 50 mph. The second storm cell just hit here. 40 mph winds and small hail, followed by rain coming down in buckets.

Son of ETA: Calmer now, though still dark. Thunder and lightning with moderate rain. They are calling for severe t-storms tonight.

There was a few seconds of stupid high winds, then a little hail. Now it's just pouring buckets of rain.

One thing I do miss about Oklahoma: The weather coverage during storm season was always spot on, and I felt comfortable and confidant in the abilities of the local weather guys (and gals) to keep me informed and warned. I don't always feel that comfortable about the ones here in Minnesota.

Depends on whether or not you like storms. But then, I'm a freak like that. I just went outside so I could feel it rising.

I love a good thunderstorm. I have very little confidence in the local weather forecasters to keep me properly advised and warned, which makes me twitchy sometimes.

My mother took me outside in freakin' Hurricanes when I was a child. That kinda took all the twitchy out of me. Or made me permanently twitchy. Can't decide.

Are you in the basement? If not, I'd go there if I was you.

Just sayin.

The storm cell blew through in under a minute. The storm itself is moving at about 50mph. I had some hail and a little hard wind. The storm windows are closed and the cat in her carrier in case I need to bolt. There's another cell moving through, It should hit in about 15 minutes.

It's going to do this off and on all night, I've heard. I'd like a nice lightning storm after dark.

Michael,

Go here.

http://www.wunderground.com/US/OH/Columbus.html

Customize the site to your zip code and bookmark it. These guys are right on and have radar going 24/7 that you can track storms and severe cells. If there is a watch or a warning, they update just as soon as anything changes.

We had 18 hours of tornado watch the other night. I was able to track it all with these guys and know just how much I had to worry. Bear turned me on to them and I've been glad ever since.

Cool. I've really missed my guys back in Oklahoma. Weather Channel is telling people here to get ready for huge hail and possible tornadoes, There are four different T-storms warnings in the metro area. The six local channels are all on regular programming, and only two of them are showing radar in an insert

Yeah, I punched in Stella's zip code and it looks nasty. I'm starting to really hate red on weather maps.

You guys all stay safe.

Kafka is meekly hiding under the bed. I hope I don't need to extricate him anytime soon. He's terrified of storms. They're scarier than the doorbell!

Thanks! I'm looking at the tall silver maple in the common area and hoping it holds. It got roughed up in the hail storm last weekend.

Oh, yeah. I remember those green skies and sudden shifts in temperature. Back in Michigan, it was a get-the-hell-out-of-Dodge moment. Usually it meant "Greetings from your Neighborhood Tornado."
