Due to circumstances beyond mine, Eric Heideman's, and DreamHaven's control, my reading at DreamHaven in September is canceled. I will let everyone know as soon as it is rescheduled.

I am nearly done beta reading my friend's YA Novel. It is good stuff.

I have gone completely mad and agreed to write a 20,000 word Steampunk / Weird West novella for an upcoming anthology. I have to turn in the complete story by the end of September, so it's going to be head down and nose to the grindstone next month.

careswen and I have talked about doing that in the past. The problem is: I don't like the sound of my own voice, so I would probably want to hire it done.

I think you have a nice voice, especially when you try to be smooth. The main thing you have to remember is to slow down.

The next reading I do, I'm going to write things like, "slow down," "breathe," and "look up" on the top of the pages.

My plan is to be done with draft one in two weeks, let the readers have it for a week, and then finish it and turn it in at the end of the month. We shall see how this goes.
