No new word count today, as my time continues to be devoted to re-writes. I worked on Out Among the Singing Void, starting the re-write process even though the story is still up on OWW waiting for more crits. I want to hustle this one out the door next week if possible. I've tightened up Jenny's Magic and it awaits a final read-through by
careswen. Rainfall continues to vex me. I know it needs trimmed, but I can't decide exactly where.
Took a stab at Dar Williams' Play the Greed on six-string today. I stumbled around and generally sucked, but I think I can do it eventually. I also put in some serious time with the Bass today, mostly practicing scales and doing blues progressions.
Which bring us to today's tale of Reverend Selena.
I have to move into the bedroom around four o'clock, because the sun starts blazing in through the west facing kitchen window right at the computer desk. I don't deal with bright light well; it's quite painful actually(
careswen is planning to make a new curtain for that window as soon as we get to a fabric store). So I took the Bass and went into the bedroom to practice. The Reverend Selena came looking for her usual four o'clock petting, so I lay the guitar aside on the bed, and started petting the purry kitty. I stretched out on the bed, and the cat kept purring. I'm pretty relaxed, and I'm kind of starting to doze when I hear "bong." I realize the cat is pawing at the Bass strings. Just as I open my eyes she reaches out and takes the G-string in her mouth, and before I can stop her she pulls back. Now, she also had a paw on the same string, and when she pulled back from the string with her mouth she also pulled off her paw.
Selena hit a perfect G harmonic.
Then jumped off the bed and ran like her tail was on fire.
Some people's cats, I swear...
