Survived

The reading went reasonably well last night. About two dozen people turned out, which made me feel warm and happy. I did not pass out and I did not throw up and no one threw rotten produce, so all in all I'd say it was a success. I started out nervous, but when everyone laughed at the right spot in the first story, it helped me settle.

According to reports, most people seemed to enjoy the two completed stories I read ("Over the Bridge" and "Out Among the Singing Void") and a couple of people wanted to hear the rest of the Dark Rapunzel piece once I'm ready to share it.

Over pizza at Dulano's, the editor of Tales of the Unanticipated expressed interest in seeing "Out Among the Singing Void" during the next reading period.

This morning while [livejournal.com profile] careswen was getting ready for work, we talked about a problem in "Over the Bridge" near the end of the story. I agree with the thing [livejournal.com profile] careswen pointed out, so it looks like yet another rewrite is in the works. Fortunately, what we agreed on was that I took something out of the first draft that needs to be in, replacing something later in the story.

Thank you everyone who came out last night (you know who you are). Thank you all so very much.

Now I'm going to take my sore throat and do some much needed housework before our fun-packed weekend begins.

In Peace
Michael
