Progress Report
Jan. 26th, 2005 05:29 pmI should hate my novel more often.
Hating the novel and being cranky with it has caused me to write about 3000 since I last checked in. I've reached the end of a bit, so I've stopped for at least this afternoon, and maybe the entire day.
I'm writing a section where we start to have a few reveals, and a little bit of history. I've been working dreadfully hard to avoid the whole "As you know Bob, in the days of the..." trap. I think I've been mostly successfully, and if I discover that I've fallen into it without realizing, I should be able to fix it in re-write.
Two more crits on OWW received today, both providing me some excellent feedback. I need to go and do a few crits of my own, maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow.
I finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. It was stylish and interesting, using a period for the setting not often encountered in modern writing, but I don’t know, something just did not completely satisfy me. Still, it is an entertaining novel, so I'd suggest reading it if you have not. I think my next book will be Bear's Hammered.
That's it for now,
In Peace
