Does it mean you have to be very careful choosing restaurants, for fear they'd use peanut oil in things?

*sigh* I hadn't even considered that, since allergy (at least the knowledge of it) is so new.

Oh. In that case I'm both glad and sorry that I brought it up.

LOL! It's something I have to think about. What triggered my reaction today was walking down the candy aisle in a store and realizing I can never have any of my favorite candy bars again.

Oh no! I'll wish you a new, non-peanut favorite candy, then.

Should we be buying you jars of cashew butter and almond butter and other consoling sorts of things?

(Note: unless your response is, "I don't think I would like that," I'm gonna. "You don't have to do that," will be met with a, "Right, then, off we go to buy cashew butter and almond butter.")

I'm already starting to work those things into my diet by moving from dry roasted peanuts to cashews. I do love the cashews. I had no idea how much I ate peanuts, peanut butter, and such things. Granted, that stuff is high in fat and needed to be cut back in my diet anyway, but to know I can never have a fifth avenue bar again, or peanut butter fudge? It stinks.

It does stink. It really does.

And experimenting with pecan butter fudge would be an attempt to get a different good thing, not a substitute.

I was discussing this with a classmate, who recommended sun butter as an alternative to peanut butter. She thought it was made from sunflower seeds, and she said she likes it better than peanut butter, even. Have you heard of it?

I haven't tried it, but I've heard of it. Hmmmmm, she said, pondering sun butter cookies.

Heh, we may still have some over in our break room at work - Laura brought some in a while back. It's super super good.

I think I was too slow, or looking in the wrong place. M's going to try to order some, I think.

Colburns doesn't have it, but there is a Whole Foods up on Excelsior where it turns into Lake that carries it.

So this is 100% permanent? I mean, you didn't have it at one time before, can't you not have it again?

Sympathies.

That's a good question. I know some people have allergies that stop bothering them later in life.

I know looking at the positive side helps sometimes. Not always.
