This is the one panel I'm on at 4th Street this year:

How to Give and Take a Critique, 10:00am - 11:00am Sunday

From editors, as a beta readers, in writers groups, or from your dog (how to take a critique from your cat would require its own panel, if not its own convention).

Marissa Lingen, Beth Meacham, Michael Merriam, Jo Walton, Tom Whitmore (M)

Sounds like a useful topic. Sorry I won't get to hear it.

You might get to, actually. Last year they recorded most of the panels in mp3 format.

That's great. Please let us know if they put it online. I think the giving and taking of critiques between writers causes an awful lot of unintended upset.

If you are interested, here are some audio files from last year's convention.

Can't wait to hear your various cents on the topic. I'll be up two hours later for the Fantasy and the Family panel. I'll be the girl on the left, trying her damndest not to sound like an idiot.

I'm not sure why, but I am doing a lot of these workshop/crit group panels this year at various conventions. Apparently I've graduated past doing the "Publishing 101" panels.
