I saw loons do their "dance" on a lake about 40 years ago. It stays with you. Neat story idea.

LOL. I miss the arts and crafts fair and parades to celebrate The Land of the Loon Festival where I grew up in Virginia, MN. I actually lived in and around Atlanta, GA most of my life, but we spent the summers in MN visiting our family. We moved back up to The Range before my junior year of high school and that'll always be home.

Um, TMI, I suppose, but the point of the story is I love loons and hope to see your story published soon.

Small, small world! I graduated from VHS in '95. My grandparents (whom I visited with growing up) now live in Bemidji, but my dad's in Makinen. I try to make it back up there every two years or so. It's a 14-hour drive from here...

Heeeeee....

I wrote about loons once. It was based off an experience Up Nort. We went swimming in this lake after dark and it was pitch black water and the stars were out and the only other light were the dock lights...and then the loons started their cry and it was so spooky and sad.

I so wish I'd thought of that story idea. Sounds very cool. I just saw a loon on Lake Minnetonka yesterday on my boat cruise for work.
