mmerriam: (Grace)

I just finished the second round of edits on Should We Drown in Feathered Sleep for Carina Press. I have plenty of time before the deadline, so I'm letting them sit tomorrow and will look them over one more time on Friday before sending them back to the editor.

We made some more minor adjustments, added a couple of new things, put a couple of things in that was taken out in the last edit, and took out one little thing. We are not particularly worried about small things like commas and line edits right now, though we are both fixing stuff that jumps out at us. Those line edits will be next with the CEM. This is all about content and flow. We've tightened some things down and expanded others. I added a lot of allusion to loon mythology and some more water-based myths as well, including a scene were the Grace's mother, sister, and sister-in-law take her to the lake and bathe her before she goes into the lake to meet the loons.

Also in this story is a completely new experience for me as a writer: a full on love-scene.

I think when we are done and the whole things turned in, I will read the old version and the new version one after the other just to see how much they changed. I can tell you this is a stronger story for the work the editor has put into with me.

I'm going to start blogging over at eHarlequin, talking about this story. I'm planning to cross-post a lot of it here as well.

Next up: Convergence 2010 or "How [livejournal.com profile] mmerriam Accidently Overbooked Himself But Had A Blast Anyway."

As a paranormal romance writer I supposed to love-scene was just a matter of time. Congrats on the continued growth of your skills.
