mmerriam: (Thoughtful)

The trip to the veterinarian is over, and the Reverend and I are home. Vet checked her out. Eyes are good, ears are good, teeth good, temperature good, good heart and lung sounds, well groomed coat, blood work was all fine. There was much general poking, prodding, and feeling around on the fuzz-ball.

Pending the results of one test that won't be back until this afternoon, the Vet pronounced Selena to be in perfect kitty-kat health.

The Vet, [livejournal.com profile] careswen, and I talked it over, and the consensus is that something has spooked her, and she needs time to get over it. The decision is to provide her a safe place, let her hide, and see if she comes out of it on her own. It was decided I would keep a careful eye on her today.

Right now the Reverend and I are in the master bedroom with the door shut. She has access to her food and water in the bedroom, and the litter box is in the master bathroom. This is where these items normally are, so there are no changes. This is where we kept her for the first couple of days after we moved in.

Once I shut the door, she seemed to settle down. She ate, drank water, used the box, ate some more, begged for a snack, and now is lying in the sun on the carpet. Anytime I move around a lot, she scampers under the end table that is set at the window for her.

We still don't know what actually caused her reaction. It could have been me startling her. It could have been something she saw outside. It could have been an encounter with Kringus, Demon-Lord of Christmas Trees. We just don't know. I just hope she recovers.

That is all for now.
