…Or, I'm Not Even Supposed To Be Writing This Story.
I'm supposed to be finishing the first draft of one of my short stories, either "Steadfast" or "Fey and Mage 01" until I'm off in December, at which point I'll finish the rewrite of Last Car to Annwn Station.
Instead I'm working on that story I talked about earlier. The one that promised "I will be a gut-wrenching, heart-rending, emotionally difficult thing to write, but you know you want to write me because I will be hard to write and that is exactly what you need to be doing."
That one. And that's okay, but my little ghost and friendship and death story is gone off in a weird direction.
I can hear you all out there thinking, "Ah, Michael's got himself another paranormal romance short story or novelette, when he thought he was writing urban fantasy or light horror. Poor Michael, these things just seem to happen to him all the time." Or maybe you're thinking, "Ah, he's got himself yet another novel, poor sod."
If it were only that easy. Being handed more paranormal romance, or another novel, or even a paranormal romance novel, I could deal with.
No. It's begun drifting off toward the "E" word.
Damnit.
Now what the am I going to do? This is not what I write! I'm blaming one of you for this. I don't know which one yet, but I know it has to be one of you being a bad influence...
