Tiny Lobsters 4 - Merriams 0

I have verified that the two tiny plastic lobsters found roaming loose in Merriam Manor were not the two previously captured tiny lobsters, but in fact two entirely new tiny plastic lobsters. I will discover who is leaving tiny plastic lobsters hidden in my home, and I will get you. Yes, I will.
Twin Cities Speculative Fiction Writers Network meeting at the Uptown Lund's community room. About 17 people came to the meeting, including Bruce Bethke. It's always good to have Bruce to talk to. We talked about the approaching con season, especially Minicon, and the proposed anthology project.
We need someone in the group to step up and be the lead person on this project. We have plenty of volunteers for other positions, including me as part of the editing team, but we need an over-all person to coordinate the effort. I would like to get this project going.
Jason Wittman brought his proofs from the Baen's Best of Anthology for us to look at.
I didn't stay for the workshop part. I felt like I didn't really get to talk to anyone, despite the fact that I seemed to be the person most on the ball (or at least flapping my gums the most) concerning the anthology project. I would have like to have had a few minutes just to chat with some people and it didn't happen. Such is life.
Wrote about 350 words on one of the last short fiction projects.
Came home, ate, poked at the intarwebs, watched an episode of "Lost" and here we are. O! The Rock-n-Roll Lifestyle.
I'm going to get another cup of tea and try to get some work in.

Date: 2007-03-26 03:54 am (UTC)Y'know, you might want to ask my sister about the crayfish she once brought home from college. Since I don't know you well enough to determine whether you'd laugh hysterically or have nightmares for weeks, I'll leave it to your discretion. :D

Date: 2007-03-26 01:25 pm (UTC)I think I'll hafta ask your sis about the story. The good laugh might be worth the creepy factor. I have faith in her ability to entertain me!

Date: 2007-03-27 03:28 am (UTC)The meetup was a bit subdued compared to our usual sessions, wasn't it? I felt guilty for not speaking up/chiming in more, but although I am quite willing to help read slush and contribute a reprint, I remain somewhat ambivalent about the anthology project. I have mixed feelings about self-publishing anything, I guess. It's a fun concept for group bonding & promotional purposes, though, so I'm definitely on board for those reasons.

Date: 2007-03-27 12:48 pm (UTC)Plus I'm interested in the project because I'm seeking a small press publisher for a collection of the short stories and poems I've sold over the last couple of years. I'd like to get the best of those pieces in one place, mostly so I'll have something to hand out to friends and family and maybe sell at Cons and readings.
