Shrimp. Peanuts. Yeah.

So...
I've known for several months that I've developed an allergy to shrimp.
The whole itchy, blotchy, broken out face things any time I ate shrimp was a pretty good clue. And this sucks, because dudes, it's shrimp! I love shrimp.
So...
I had an appointment for a check-up, and I was showing the doctor this eczema on my skin (so I thought) and she took one look and said, "Stop eating peanuts."
"But," says I, "I eat peanut butter all the time."
She gives me the eyebrow. I get the message (um, Michael, if you eat peanut butter all the time, and you're broken out and itchy all the time...) I stopped eating peanut butter and lo! The breakout goes away and I start to improve.
Then I eat a single piece of peanut butter fudge tonight and...well, it isn't pretty and I've needed my inhaler and I itch like a...well, yeah.
So, to review. Can't eat shrimp and I can't eat peanut butter, two of my favorite foods.
And yeah, still blind.
I have this urge to eat a pound of butterfly shrimp cooked in peanut oil and then drive around town.
Grr.

Date: 2008-12-27 02:25 am (UTC)And empathies. For a while, I was allergic to chocolate and blueberries.
The allergies went away, finally. As did my allergy to cats.
And my allergy to beestings.

Date: 2008-12-27 04:42 am (UTC)I developed my shrimp allergy suddenly. I adore shellfish, so I can relate. Be cautious of clams/oysters, etc.
If you decide to eat shrimp cooked in peanut oil, and go driving. Call me....I will be your assistant in crime, while wielding my eucalyptus sword. =P

Date: 2008-12-27 06:07 am (UTC)Peanuts will give me one or two pimples the next day. I mean, I think they're pimples but it's nothing like that.
I am so sorry.
