So, what do we the people need to do to get a State Constitutional Amendment on the ballot that stops the salary of state Reps, Senators, and the Governor in the event of a state government shutdown? Because I think most Minnesotans would vote for that. If they can't get The People's business done, then they don't need The People's money.

I made this same suggestion recently, around the time a Federal shutdown was looming. One interesting response I got was that this could actually serve to egg on politicians by providing 'see how selfless we are' type air-cover. Which is not to say that I'd vote against such a plan, of course, just food for thought.
